Drug rehabilitation for consultants
A substance addiction can take the most creative person and turn their life into a shadow of what it once was. It is a problem that can strike anyone at any time in his or her life. Some people who fall into substance abuse end up surprising their family and friends, simply because they had formerly been living such productive and lucrative lives. For example, no one would expect a person working in product design or an engineering related field to fall victim to substance abuse. However, it is exactly this sort of un-expectant attitude that allows the problem to take hold without anyone noticing. Consultants regularly court their clients and take them out for dinner and cocktails in fancy restaurants.
No one expect a career like this to drive a person to drug rehabilitation, but it has certainly happened in the past. For a potential client, this may be the first time in a month that they have been out for a business meeting and drinks; but the consultant is likely to have been here many times before with many other clients. It sneaks up as a habit that is difficult to let go of. The single greatest defence against substance addiction is being aware of the risks. It is important for the person as well as friends and family members to realise that addiction can happen to anyone, regardless of how successful a career person they are. With loved ones watching out for the telltale signs, the chances of avoidance or successful recovery are much higher.
