Online meetings are easy and efficient, and when meeting face to face is a great way to stay up to date with progress.
For audio and video there are two services which we use. Skype and Mikogo.
Skype is the free alternative to telephone and requires only a microphone and speakers (although a handsfree headset is preferable).
Mikogo is currently the best way to screen cast online, its fast, shows 3d information, and allows all kinds of interesting collaboration online.
Both Skype and Mikogo are designed to work together in conjunction, and its easy to set up using the following steps. Then you are well on your way to saving time, travelling costs and work collaboratively on your product development.
Skype
You will no doubt want to use Skype more and more once you discover the capabilities to same you money on local and international phone calls.
The
programme can be downloaded from
www.skype.com and is
very self explanatory.
Steps:-
1. Go to the Download section of the Skype website and select the latest version
2. Select 'Run' to start the install
3. Follow the prompts and ensure you tick the 'I agree' box.
Once up and running you must select 'Add' under Contacts

Then to add my contact details, simply enter "john@thebigconsultant.com" and select the 'Find' button

Once added, we can call using the red and green 'telephone receiver' type buttons to make voice calls and in addition use other collaborative tools.
Mikogo screen sharing
Navigate to www.mikogo.com in Internet Explorer, and simply click on Join meeting on the top right hand site.
Select Run when prompted.
You will be asked for a 'Meeting ID' which I will provide, and to input your name.

In addition there are whiteboard tools and others which I will introduce as necessary.
Please read the FAQ for participating in a Mikogo meeting here for further information and examples.
